He was going to die anyway. At

I guess I just wanted to please

mother died, what I meant was she

That's when I decided I

Bet you're wondering what's going
on. Well, it seems that there is a
little payback in order, girl
friend.
Kim walks over to Julia, holds the gun to her head.
KIM (CONT'D )
I know, I know.
But you're
innocent? Trust me, I understand.
You see, sometimes in war, you have
casualties. That's what they
called my father, I'm sure, a
casualty of w a r .
(beat)
My own father blew his brains out
on a building very much like this
one. And I got to watch.
Julia squirms in the chair.
KIM (CONT'D)
Chill, Jules.
This party's just
getting started.
Kim laughs and walks away from Julia.
INT. BUSINESS OFFICE - NIGHT
The office is furnished with a desk, two chairs, and a
computer. Randolph closes the door. He, Jake and Nick sit
down.
JAKE
Mr. Blakemore, we know both you and
William Trask were involved in Dave
Harrison's murder. We think the
person who's committing these
crimes is looking for revenge
against both you and Trask.
RANDOLPH
This damn thing started twenty
years ago.
I got involved in
something that I shouldn't have and
been paying for it ever since.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. OFFICE BUILDING - FLASHBACK - DAY
A YOUNG RANDOLPH (early 30s) sits at a desk with a TRASK AT
30, his name tag on his uniform.
The two are in deep
discussion.
YOUNG RANDOLPH
You're shutting us down? But
Project Treachery is your dream and
we're almost through. A computer
supervirus that will completely
shut down the enemy, take over
their vital systems.
I've got my
best programmer on it, Dave
Harrison.
TRASK AT 30
I'm sorry Randolph, I should have
told you, but some of my projects
haven't exactly been... sanctioned.
I need to shut this down now! And
I'm going to need your files...
Dave Harrison walks into the room.

DAVE HARRISON
So you can do what, steal it for
yourself? Use it against our own
government? Don't think I don't
know about you, Lieutenant Trask,
I've heard the rumors. And I'm not
going to be a part of whatever your
endgame is, I'm no traitor.
INT. BUSINESS OFFICE - NIGHT
Jake stands up, walks toward Randolph.
JAKE
So you killed him. He was going to
expose you and Trask for what,
misusing government funds, creating
a program that would, in the wrong
hands, cripple our government?
Pretty good motive.
Jake paces back and forth, next to the desk.
RANDOLPH
Trask was the one who killed
Harrison!
If only he'd just kept
quiet, and come to me. Trask
wanted the code to erase records of
whatever else he was doing, medical
experimentation through a pharmacy
company I was the primary stock
holder in. It seems he had a
career to follow...
JAKE
(interrupting)
All the way to the Joint Chiefs?
RANDOLPH
Exactly.
So he wanted to tie up
his loose ends.
JAKE
With murder? Nice that you went to
Lhe police.
RANDOLPH
I was young, stupid, and greedy.
INTERCUT WITH:
EXT. BLAKEMORE BUILDING ROOF - NIGHT
Julia, tied up in the chair, stares at Kim, who laughs,
putting her gun down to her side.
KIM
Trask couldn't just kill my father,
he had to discredit him.
So Trask
takes one of his unauthorized
little drugs and tries it out on my
dad. The drug, given in such a
high dose, makes you go crazy,
messes with your DNA. DNA, you
should know all about that, Miss
CSI.
Kim looks at Julia and forces her to nod her head.
KIM (CONT'D)
Anyway, it makes you want to jump
out of your own skin and die. And
that's exactly what my father did.
Tears begin to stream from Kim's face.
KIM (CONT'D)
And you want to know what the worst
part of it all is, princess? Your
father did nothing to stop i t . But
I found that little formula and
that computer program of Trask's.
Now you're all going to pay.
INT. BUSINESS OFFICE - NIGHT
Randolph sits, a tear in his eye.
RANDOLPH
I was afraid that Trask would ruin
me, or worse, hurt my family.
So I
played along and covered it up.
I
paid for the care of Dave's wife in
Seaview Mental because of my guilt.
I hoped his children would be

EXT. BLAKEMORE BUILDING ROOF - NIGHT
Kim regains her composure and opens her laptop, begins
typing.
She then connects a gas canister and tube from her
computer to a ventilation shaft at the top of the building.
KIM
Me and my brother, we were sent off
to foster homes, one after the
next, worse and worse. My brother,
do you know what happened to him?
I found his records. Seems h e 's
dead.
Ironically, of a drug
overdose at sixteen, just like dad,
in a way. But my mother and I
found my father's things, his
journal.
I learned everything.
Kim makes a few adjustments, winks at Julia.
KIM (CONT'D)
And now, with this fun little
computer virus, I've taken over the
systems for this building and am
going to release that same little
drug as a gas into the ventilation
systems.
Kim finishes what she is doing, gets up and cocks the gun
she is pointing at Julia, preparing to fire.
KIM (CONT'D)
But don't worry, you'll die first.
Think of it like this. You won't
have to suffer like the others,
since you are my friend, after all.

Kim laughs, aims, but Julia manages to free one of her tied
feet and kick Kim in the face.

Julia attempts to escape, still bound, but Kim grabs her
and punches her.
Julia fights back, head-butting Kim to
the ground.
As Kim falls, her hair, a black wig, falls off, revealing
short, blonde hair.
Julia tries to cut the ropes from her hands and does not
see Kim come up behind her, hitting her over the head with
the gun.
Julia falls to the ground in pain, and Kim directs Julia
back to the chair with the point of her gun.
Blood drips from Kim's lip, which she wipes away.
KIM (CONT'D)
You see what you make me doI
Julia SCREAMS.
Kim walks over to her computer and on the
screen there is a clock ticking down from five minutes.
KIM (CONT'D)
Go ahead. They won't hear you.
They're having a gala downstairs,
but they'll be quiet soon enough.
Five minutes to be exact.
JULIA
Please stop this, Kim.
I don't
care what you do to me, but those
people are innocent.
Just let them
go, it's not fair.
KIM
You're right, it isn't. This
doesn't seem fair, does it?
JULIA
Then you won't hurt them?
KIM
Um, well, no! Had you going there
for a minute, didn't I?

INT. BUSINESS OFFICE - NIGHT
Jake stops and stares directly at Randolph.
JAKE
And now someone, probably one of
those kids you just couldn't keep
track of, wants to get revenge on
you for your sins, isn't that
right, Randolph?
The door to the office opens, and Mark enters.

Nick looks at Jake, realizing he was wrong about Julia.
NICK
Yeah. Then they would be pretty
upset, wouldn't they. Especially
that their father's murder was
covered up. But upset enough to
kill?
JAKE
Upset enough to kill Julia, and
maybe others. Right, Randolph?
Randolph is horrified.
JAKE (CONT'D)
Upset enough to reverse the same
crime twenty years later? And what
a perfect place to get revenge on
all of you at this party.
NICK
On the roof, where the jewel will

I'm sorry, Jake, you were

Jake stands up.
