Operational Programme “Environment”
пѓј Priority axis 1:
Improvement and development of water and wastewater
infrastructure in settlements with over 2000 population
equivalent (PE) and in settlements below 2000 PE within
urban agglomeration areas.
пѓј Activities to be supported:
o
o
the construction/reconstruction/modernization of wastewater
treatment plants including the introduction of tertiary treatment,
where necessary, water supply networks, new water storage tanks,
main water supply pipes connecting the water supply networks
with the water sources, etc.,
construction/extension/reconstruction/ of sewage networks within
the same agglomerations.

пѓј Priority axis 2:
Improvement and
infrastructure
development
of
waste
treatment
пѓјConstruction
of
relevant
new
regional
facility/installation for treatment of household
waste.
пѓјPriority will be given to landfills that impose higher
risk to the environment and human health.

пѓј Activities to be supported:
o regional facilities/installations for municipal waste treatment
having sufficient capacity for the country’s purposes in the 54 waste
management regions (for example regional landfills and transfer
stations);
o facilities for pre-treatment - composting, sorting, and separation of
waste, in parallel with putting into operation of the newly constructed
municipal waste regional landfills;
o waste recycling centers in parallel with putting into operation of
the new municipal waste regional landfills;
o installations for recovery of the emitted gas emissions
(methane) from the municipal waste landfills for the production of
electricity;
o facilities for recycling of construction and demolition waste.

пѓј Basic Services for the Economy and Rural Population
o Reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing municipal roads
and bridges;
o Construction/reconstruction/rehabilitation of the water supply
system and related facilities;
o Construction/reconstruction/rehabilitation of the sewage system
and related facilities;
o Construction or rehabilitation of small infrastructure for waste
management – only carcass collection facilities;
o Construction or rehabilitation and equipping of installations for
the production of electric power and/or heat for municipality
owned buildings; setting-up public distribution networks for
bio-fuels or heat/power from biomass or other renewables;
o Investments for improvement of energy efficiency in municipal
and other buildings used for provision of community services, etc.

o Rehabilitation of public green areas - parks and gardens, children
playgrounds and related facilities;
o Reconstruction and refurbishment of municipal buildings of local
historic and cultural importance;
o Reconstruction and construction of street network, street
footpath, squares, lightning in the village, etc.

Sustainable use and protection of natural resources and
environment and promotion of efficient risk management in
the cross-border area

agriculture/organic waste disposal, herbicides disposal, etc.;
• Activities for permanent protection from the negative effect of
flood phenomena, etc.
